Earthly Constructs

I lived on the island of Corsica for several years, and have the good fortune to be able to return often. My husband is a native and during one of my longer stays I made this work.
Towers, megaliths, and caves made use by peoples of ancient cultures still decorate the rugged landscape, while remnants from boats and barb wire wash up on the shores. It’s tapestry of rich (and often dark) cultural history and natural beauty cloaks the island in magic and mystery.
The found objects, undulating colors, and hand-sawed wooden panels reflect the layering of relics and landscape in this homage to La Corse.
